Kaizer Chiefs Eyeing Jose Peseiro as Potential Coach

Yet another high-profile name has been thrown into the ring as a potential candidate to take up the mantle of Kaizer Chiefs’ new coach.

For the past few weeks, Chiefs – who are looking to reclaim their former glory days – have been scouring both the local and international soccer scenes for their next coach. So far, Alexandre Gallo of Brazil and South Africa’s own Pitso Mosimane have cropped up as possible contenders for the role.

Now, it has been reported that Jose Peseiro of Portugal is on the straggling club’s radar after his management contract with the Nigerian men’s national soccer team recently expired.

Peseiro’s résumé is extensive: the 63-year-old has coached the likes of Sporting CP, Al Wahda FC, FC Porto and the Venezuelan men’s national soccer team, among others.

“Kaizer Chiefs are considering well-travelled Jose Peseiro as a possible solution to take over the club’s head coaching role,” a source divulged to a local soccer outlet last week.

According to the same source, Amakhosi’s management have already “set up a meeting” with Peseiro, although it is unclear when the meeting took (or will take) place.

Regardless, Kaizer Chiefs will need to work fast if they are truly keen to hire Peseiro, as he has already attracted attention from Algeria and Cameroon to coach their respective men’s national teams.
